Ferdinand 'Fred' Assenza, 89 Mechanical engineer and willing 'Mr. Fix-It' to his family, friends Ferdinand (Fred) Assenza, 89, passed away on Thursday, Oct. 3, 2019 at Carmel Richmond Health Care & Rehab Center. Fred was born and raised in Brooklyn, N.Y., and moved to Staten Island in 1970, settling in Great Kills. Fred is also survived by many nieces and nephews as well as grand-nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday at the John Vincent Scalia Home for Funerals, Inc., 28 Eltingville Blvd, Staten Island, New York. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 8 a.m. on Saturday at Our Lady Star of the Sea Church, located at 5411 Amboy Road, Staten Island, N.Y.
