Barbara "Gail" Groves
Barbara "Gail" Groves Evansville - Barbara "Gail" Groves, 84, passed away on September 5, 2019 at Linda E. White Hospice House in Evansville, Indiana. Gail was born in Winslow, Indiana on October 1, 1934 to the late Oscar and Juanita Baize. Though she grew up in Winslow, she lived throughout the country including Ohio, New Mexico, Missouri and Kansas. In 1973, Gail moved back to Indiana where she lived the remainder of her life. She worked in medical patient accounts for over 25 years and retired from St. Mary's Medical Center. Gail is survived by her children Theresa Sturm, Lee Ann Puckett, and Chad Groves; her grandchildren Tanya Sturm (Robin), Karum Shehadeh (Kimberly), Krystal Sturm-Curtis (John) and Kyle Puckett; her great granddaughters Jett, Kynzlee, Larkin and Nixie who brought her tremendous joy; her sister Reva Baumgart; many nieces and nephews; and, Lexie, her four-legged fur baby. Gail was also preceded in death by her sister, Sharon Duran. Gail lived an active life and was an avid sports fan. She loved basketball, football ("Go Chiefs") and various other sports. She impressed family and friends with her quilting talents and her cooking/baking skills. And, she loved visits and calls from her family and friends all whom will miss her dearly. Special thanks to her dear friend, Betty Russelburg, who brought great comfort and stories to the family during Gail's final days. And thank you to the doctors and employees of Deaconess Gateway Hospital and the Linda E. White Hospice House. They took wonderful care of Gail and her family during the last month. A private ceremony will be held in the coming weeks to celebrate Gail's life. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Linda E. White Hospice House, 611 Harriet St., Evansville, IN 47747.
