Evan Ray Merritt Evansville, Ind. - Evan Ray Merritt, 23, of Evansville, Indiana, passed away Monday, September 9, 2019. Evan was born in Evansville, Indiana on April 9, 1996, to Tim Merritt and Nina Scott. He graduated from high school in 2014. Evan received the triple crown award at the U.S. Open in Karate in 2011. He worked at Shoe Carnival as a fork truck driver for the past three years. Evan enjoyed spending time outdoors, kayaking, poi fire spinning , and loved anything tie-dye. He was devoted to his family, hardworking, and had a good sense of humor. Evan loved his family dearly and will be deeply missed. Evan is survived by his wife, Angel Merritt of Evansville, IN; son, Nova Ray Merritt; mother, Nina Scott (Gary Green) of Evansville, IN; father, Tim Merritt (Cheri) of Evansville, IN; sisters, Nichole Merritt, Sumer Merritt, Kristin Peterson, and Alisha Hengstenberg; brothers, Michael Alexander and Kelly Green; grandparents, Jerry and Donna Scott; and numerous nieces and nephews. Evan was preceded in death by his grandparents, Robert and Anna Marie Merritt. A celebration of Evan's life will be held at 4:00 PM on Wednesday, September 11, 2019, at Browning Funeral Home, 738 Diamond Ave., Evansville, IN 47711, with Pastor David Mills officiating.
