Susan I. (Woodward) Smith-Tyring
Susan I. (Woodward) Smith-Tyring Evansville - Susan I. (Woodward) Smith-Tyring, 65, of Evansville, Indiana, passed away on Saturday, September 7, 2019 at her home surrounded by her family. Susan was born in Evansville, Indiana on June 15, 1954, to Robert and Imelda (Martin) Woodward. She graduated from Reitz High School in 1972 and worked in quality control at Berry Plastics Corporation. Susan attended St. Joseph Catholic Church in the county. She loved the sunny beaches of Panama City, Florida where she would go often to visit her sons. Susan was a great cook and enjoyed gardening. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her family; her dog, Shadow and especially her grandchildren. Susan is survived by her husband of over 30 years, Steve Smith of Evansville, IN; daughter, Crystal Payne of Evansville, IN; sons, David Matthew Tyring (Susan) of Panama City, FL, Dennis Tyring (Nikol) of Panama City, FL, Steven Smith, Jr. (Christie) of Hinton, OK; her parents, Robert and Imelda (Martin) Woodward of Vanderburgh County, IN; siblings, Bruce Woodward (Terri), Brian Woodward, Joanna Morphew (Bill), Martin Woodward (Carolyn) and John Woodward all of Evansville, IN; and 14 grandchildren. Susan was preceded in death by two brothers, Bob and Leonard Woodward. A celebration of Susan's life will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, September 11, 2019 at Browning Funeral Home, 738 Diamond Ave., Evansville, IN 47711 with Father Gene Schroeder officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Friends may visit from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Tuesday, September 10, 2019 at Browning Funeral Home and again from 10:00 AM until service time on Wednesday. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 5250 Vogel Rd., Suite A, Evansville, IN 47715 or to the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation, P.O. Box 414238, Boston, MA 02241.
