Mrs. Karen Evans Burgess
Funeral services for Mrs. Karen Evans Burgess, 64, will be held on Wednesday, August 7, 2019, at 11:00 a.m. at Anniston Memorial Funeral Home. Bro. Ronny Moore will be officiating. Burial will be held in Anniston Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday evening from 6-8 p.m. Mrs. Burgess died on Wednesday, July 31, 2019 surrounded by her loving family. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Steve Burgess and his wife, Allison and Robyn Burgess and her husband, Dustin Viehe; her mother, Logene Evans Shelton; one grandson, Brooks Burgess; one grandson-on-the-way, Palmer Viehe; her brother, David Evans and his wife, Anita; one niece and one nephew; and her goddaughter, Skylar Hargrove. Pallbearers will be Jonathan Miller, Wes Ginn, Michael Harden, Dustin Russell, J.J. Irwin, Brad Vinson and Derek Harrell. Mrs. Burgess was a Registered Nurse and retired from Stringfellow Memorial Hospital after working there for 38 years. After her retirement she enjoyed caring for and spoiling her grandson, Brooks. Mrs. Burgess was so excited knowing she had another grandson due in October and wanted to meet him so very much. She was a loving mother, "K.K.", sister and friend, who will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. In Mrs. Burgess' spare time she enjoyed being with her family more than anything else. She was filled with strength and integrity and was passionate about caring for others. Mrs. Burgess was preceded in death by the father of her children, William "Tommy" Burgess; and her father, Willard Evans. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Grandview Medical Center's Cardiac ICU for their devoted, continued support and care.
