Ursula Elisabeth Cartwright
CARTWRIGHT, Ursula Elisabeth Ursula Elisabeth Cartwright was born in Germany on January 21, 1940, and grew up in Frankfurt. She passed away in Dallas, Texas on June 2, 2019. Ursula had a successful career in banking, and with the FDIC, in Houston and in Dallas. Ursula's four daughters were also born in Germany. In 1965, after her then husband Bruce Lane's U.S. Army enlistment ended, she and her family moved to Reedsport, Oregon. Over the years, Ursula lived in northern California, Las Vegas, Dallas, and finally, Houston, where she began her financial career at Bank of the Southwest. In 1985, Ursula married Reagan Cartwright, Jr. They met as fellow officers at downtown Houston's American Bank. When Ursula received an appointment with the FDIC's Dallas Regional Office in 1992, the couple relocated, eventually settling in Dallas's Preston Hollow neighborhood. Ursula loved music, especially opera (Maria Callas!), and was a voracious reader. She was proficient in sewing and knitting, due to the instruction she received from the Ursuline nuns in her boarding school near Frankfurt, She enjoyed creating art in many formats, but her greatest such passion was painting landscapes in oil. Family members of all generations, treasure their collections of "Ursula" originals, including oil paintings, wire and bead art work, and even a custom tattoo designed by Ursula --- that is proudly worn by one of her granddaughters. Ursula had a loving personality and a renowned dry wit. When people would notice her German accent, and ask her where she was from, Ursula would reply, with a straight face, "New Jersey". She had a special humor about her, such as appreciating the ironic wisdom found within The Simpsons. Ursula is survived by her husband, Reagan, and her daughters: Roswitha Haefele, Ursula Mussmann and husband Wolfgang, Georgia Thomason and husband Ronald, and Diana Williford; grand children: Bianca Thaleimer and husband Sebastian , Markus Greinwald and wife Regina Breitenger ,Tracie Thomason, Tiffani Thomason, James Paul Hernandez, and Chelsea Hernandez; and great grandchildren: Vincent Weihmayer, Hannah Kuhn, Anton Kuhn, Ferdinand Thalheimer, Aaron Greinwald, Aria Renee Brown and Khloe Lane Hernandez. Family will begin receiving friends on Friday, June 7, 2019 from 5:00 PM to 9:00PM with a rosary beginning at 7:00 PM at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home located at 6900 Lawndale Street, Houston, Texas. A graveside service will begin at 1:00 PM on Saturday, June 8, 2019 in the Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery. Remembrances may be made to The Salvation Army.
