In memory of
Louise (Rodarte) Neeley
Louise Neeley (nee Rodarte) Palm Springs - Louise Neeley (née Rodarte), cherished senior of an extended family with deep Coachella Valley roots, passed away peacefully, in La Quinta, on May 2nd, 2019 at the age of 93. Born in 1925 on La Quinta's Point Happy Ranch, Louise lived most of her life in the Coachella Valley. She worked for many years as secretary at Westside Elementary and is fondly remembered by generations of students who attended there. In her retirement, Louise volunteered for St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, the American Legion Auxiliary and for local historical societies and museums where she shared memories of her early life on Point Happy Ranch. The stories she shared depicted a childhood spent in date orchards, swimming pools, and on the tennis court. Her love of tennis was lifelong, as she always kept up with the professional tournaments on television. Louise was also a talented seamstress, and known for the "smart" outfits she wore. She frequently entertained family and friends in her home and was famous for the baked goods and jams prepared on the 1960s-era deluxe stove that she used up until she suffered a stroke a few months ago. Louise is survived by a sister Josephine Noble, her son Charles Neeley (Bonnie), two granddaughters, a great-grandson, numerous nieces, nephews and many friends. Her husband of 55 years, Charles C. Neeley, preceded her in death in 1999. Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on May 21 at Saint Frances of Assisi Catholic Church, LaQuinta. Mass to be preceded by a Rosary at 9:00 AM and followed by an interment ceremony at Coachella Valley Cemetery. A reception will be held at the Herman Granados American Legion Hall. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in Louise's name be made to the Girls' State program with the America Legion Auxiliary in Indio, 44200 Sun Gold Street, Indio, 92201
