In memory of
Rodell Grier
July 2, 1926 – May 4, 2019 In the final months of her 92 years of life, Rodell Grier often said she would be spending her remaining days waiting patiently for the good Lord to call her home. While in Gulf Coast Medical Center on May 4, 2019 with her family by her side, heavens gates opened and welcomed Rodell Grier. Rodell Grier was born on July 2, 1926 in Blakely. Georgia. The youngest of nine siblings, "Ms. Rodell" (to all who knew her) arrived in Panama City, Florida at the age of eight after the death of both of her parents. She was taken in and raised by an older sister, Polly, in Panama City and settled in to become one of the pillars of the Shinetown community now known as Glenwood. Her adult years were spent raising two boys and working until her seventies for various families in the Panama City area. Within those years she joined Redemption Lutheran Church where she was a lifelong member. She was grateful for the visits and communion from her church family and spoke often of its heritage. Family and friends were also a priority in her life and she welcomed all who ventured on "the porch" of the Grier household. In her retirement years she could be found swinging on the infamous front porch on Palo Alto Avenue, preparing a good Sunday dinner or trying new recipes. She never missed an opportunity to fellowship with friends or family. She was preceded in death by her parents, all of her siblings, her youngest son, Curtis "Buddy" Grier, and special niece, Betty Brown She leaves to carry on her legacy a son Bobby Grier of Panama City, Florida, granddaughter Monisha Grier of Douglasville, Georgia, nephew Elijah Brown of College Park, Georgia, a host of nieces and nephews and special friend, Irene McKinney. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Heritage Funeral home and services will be private. The family wishes to thank Dora Zion of the Gulf Coast Medical Center ICU nursing team for her professionalism, compassion and support. We would also like to thank our family and friends for the kind words and support during this humbling moment and ask for your continued prayers as we reflect and honor our loved one. Happy Mother's Day! We love and miss you. Bobby and Monisha To extend condolences, please visit www.heritagefhllc.com Heritage Funeral Home & Cremation Services. 247 N.
