William F. Gott Staten Island native, Vietnam War veteran, Mass is Saturday William F. Gott, 70, of Meiers Corners passed away on April 9, 2019, surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved son of Mildred and Robert Gott. William, known as " Billy," is survived by his wife, Christine Gott; three daughters, Amy Milone, Tara Gott and Erin Migdalen and eight grandchildren. He was also the loving brother of Marianne Mele and Robert Gott.William also had a special place in his heart for his niece, Catherine Mione and nephew, Stephen Coffey. Born and raised on Staten Island, Billy graduated from Port Richmond High School and shortly after was drafted into the Vietnam War. While in the war he married his loving wife, Christine Lawless. After returning he went back to work on Wall Street for Gintel & Company for over 20 years. Billy enjoyed reading, traveling, completing the NY Times crossword puzzle, walking in Clove Lakes Park and meeting up with his friends for drinks. Above all he loved his family, especially his eight grandchildren who referred to him as " Grampy." He always had a smile on his face and a kind word to say. The funeral is from the Matthew Funeral Home Inc. Saturday, departing at 9:15 a.m. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Rita's R.C. Church, S.I., at 10 a.m. Interment will be private. Family and friends are asked to visit Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to pulmonaryfibrosisfoundation.org in Billy's name would be greatly appreciated.
