Ronald J Ellena Rancho Mirage - Ronald J. Ellena of Rancho Mirage, CA passed away on Feb. 6, 2019. He was born September 14, 1939 to John D Ellena and Lucille M. Giacomina in Pasadena, CA. Ron graduated Fontana High in 1957 where he was active in football and track, he attended Chaffey College Ontario, CA and served in the U.S. Army, 1958 to 1961 as an MP and Paratrooper. He spent 27 years with the LA police department serving in many capacities, retiring as a Detective III in Criminal Conspiracy. Ron married Bonnie R Beckstrom on November 10, 1974 in Palos Verdes, CA. He is survived by his wife Bonnie, Brother Jon P. Ellena (Connie), Daughter Lisa L. Ellena, Granddaughter Julianna Ellena, grandson Aaren Michael Cooper (Kelsi), great grandaughter Kendra and great grandson Kaden, cousins, nephews and nieces. Preceded in death by his son Michael Ellena and Parents. Ron and Bonnie moved to Rancho Las Palmas CC in 1995 where he spent his retirement enjoying golf, many social activities and traveling to many countries with Bonnie, he had a great sense of humor, always enjoying a good joke. He will be sadly missed by his family, friends and dog, Bella. There will be a private memorial for family and close friends. Donations may be made to the Parkinson's Foundation or Lucy Curci Cancer Center.
