Fortune, Richard Lane 7/18/1947 - 2/20/2019 Ann Arbor Richard "Dick" Fortune age 71, of Ann Arbor, MI died unexpectedly on February 20th, 2019 Dick was born in Fremont, Ohio on July 18th,1947 and grew up in Ann Arbor, MI. He graduated from Ann Arbor (Pioneer) High School in 1965 and attended Michigan State University. Dick worked for the United States Postal Service for nearly 30 years. He became a Life Master of Duplicate Bridge, at the age of 22, after winning the individual National Championship in St. Louis. Dick was involved in numerous activities which included Ann Arbor Track Club, Pickle Ball at the Ann Arbor Rec. Center, Michigan Master's Swimming, Director of Duplicate Bridge at the Ann Arbor City Club and dancing with AACTMAD. He also volunteered with Ypsilanti based non-profit Growing Hope. Dick was known in his Forestbrooke neighborhood as the "Flower Guy" and had a passion for growing dahlias, chrysanthemums and raspberries which he lovingly shared with his neighbors. Dick is preceded in death by his parents, Dorothy and Leonard Fortune, brother John Fortune and niece, Debbie Green. Beloved brother of Nancy (Marshall) Green, Peggy Soth (the late Scott) and James (Barbara) Fortune and many nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind many dear friends and neighbors. A "Celebration of Life" will be held on Saturday, April 6th at 1:00pm at the Concourse Hall, 4531 Concourse Dr. in Ann Arbor.
