Mrs. Bernice Griffin Webster, 97, a longtime resident of Burlington for over 70 years, passed away at Alamance Regional Medical Center on Monday, March 11, 2019. Mrs. Webster was born October 9, 1921 in Chatham County to her late parents, John M. "Tump" Griffin and May Terry Griffin. She was married to the late Freeman N. Webster who died in 1991. Bernice was a 1939 graduate of Silk Hope High School. She worked at May Hosiery Mill for over ten years and later became a homemaker and bookkeeper for her husband's roofing and sheet metal business. She was a member of Sapling Ridge United Methodist Church in Pittsboro, NC. Survivors include her daughter, Karen W. Fahy and husband CDR Thomas E. Fahy, USN (Ret.) of Alexandria, VA; two granddaughters, Terri A. Stanley of Chantilly, VA and Jennifer N. Fahy of Deltona, FL; two great-grandsons, Connor Stanley and Dylan Stanley of Chantilly, VA; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by three sisters, Mozelle G. Allen, Fern M. Griffin and Agnes G. Pickett. The family will receive friends at the Rich & Thompson Funeral and Cremation Service in Burlington on Wednesday, March 13, 2019 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. The funeral service will be conducted at the Rich & Thompson Chapel in Burlington on Thursday, March 14, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Sapling Ridge United Methodist Church Cemetery in Pittsboro, NC. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Sapling Ridge United Methodist Church, 5016 Silk Hope Gum Springs Road, Pittsboro, NC 27312 or a charity of the donor's choice.
