Rev. Carlos Owens Nashville - Rev. Carlos Richard Owens, 88, died in Nashville, TN, February 9, 2019. Born in Henry County, he was pastor in Henry & Stewart Counties and spent 36 years in Africa as Southern Baptist missionary and later helped establish the Swahili Baptist Church Woodmont in Nashville. He was member of the Woodmont Baptist Church He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Myrtice Jean Taylor Owens, daughter Janice (Roger) Duffy of Nashville, Ruth (James) Alvin of Wheaton, IL, Debra (Stan) Owens-Hughes of Sao Paulo, Brazil, eleven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. His funeral will be at the Ridgeway Funeral Home in Paris at 10:00 AM on Thursday, February 14 and burial at the Jones Chapel Baptist Church with a memorial at the Woodmont Baptist Church on Saturday, February 16th, visitation 9-10:00 AM, memorial service at 10:00 AM. Memorials may be made to the Carlos & Myrtice Owens Fund (for perpetual mission support) through the International Mission Board, c/o Woodmont Baptist Church, 2100 Woodmont Blvd., Nashville TN 37215 or charity of your choice.
