In memory of
David B. Meyer
David B. Meyer passed away peacefully at his home in Montgomery, TX on Saturday, February 9th after a long illness. Dave was born on April 5, 1954 to Gordon and June Beckes Meyer in Niagara Falls, N.Y. Athletics played an important part of Dave's life. He spent his childhood years in Scituate, MA where he developed his love for the Boston Red Sox and Boston Bruins. After moving to Neenah and Appleton, WI he found the Green Bay Packers. Dave graduated from Appleton East H.S. in 1972 and continued his education at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire where he earned a Geology degree in 1977. He played both baseball and hockey while attending. He completed his education at Florida Institute of Technology earning a master's degree in Marine Geology in 1981. After, he began his 31year career as a Geologist with Chevron living in Slidell, LA and The Woodlands, TX. Dave's life was his family and friends. He spent countless years instilling his love for sports by coaching many of his sons' sports teams. He loved camping, hiking, skiing, or playing a round of golf or hand of Euchre with his family. Most importantly, he taught his sons and those around him to always look for the good in others. Though his life was lived with many health problems, he always had a smile on his face and was thankful for each day. He leaves a powerful example of how to live and enjoy life. His father, Gordon D. Meyer and sister, Christine Meyer Nix, preceded Dave in death. He is survived by his wife of 37 yrs, Betsy; sons Ryan (Erica), Erik (Elena), and Greg and beloved grandchildren Alden and Emilia. He is also survived by his mother, June Beckes Meyer, brothers Steve (Linda), Doug (Julie), Gregg (Barbara) and sister Sue and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at Klein Funeral Home, Magnolia The Woodlands on Saturday, February 16th. Visitation will begin at 1pm followed by a Memorial service at 2PM. We would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Cornerstone Specialty Hospital, Conroe, for their professional and loving care. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
