Mary L. LaFace Retired Newark teacher, grandmother with two on the way Mary L. LaFace (nee Dunn) 70, of Toms River, N.J., passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2019, surrounded by her loving family at Overlook Medical Center Summit, N.J. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend the funeral from the Corsentino Home For Funerals, 620 Second Ave., corner of John St., Elizabeth, N.J., on Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2019, at 9 a.m., thence to St. Theresa's Church, Kenilworth, N.J., where at 10:30 a.m. a funeral Mass will be offered. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Monday, 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Cremation will be private. Mary was born and raised in Newark, N.J. On March 29, 1978, she married the love of her life, Frank R. LaFace. They lived in Cranford, N.J., for over 30 years before moving to Toms River two years ago. Mary was a school teacher for Newark Board of Education for 40 years before retiring eight years ago. She enjoyed playing Sudoku, Mahjong, and crossword puzzles. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. A caring and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and sister, Mary is survived by her beloved husband of 40 years, Frank R. LaFace; loving children, Sara LaFace-Apreda (Luigi), Steven LaFace, and Emilia Chacon (Jose); adored grandchildren, Graciela Chacon, Salvatore Apreda, and blessed with two more grandchildren expected in February and June of 2019. She is also survived by siblings, Susan and Peter Dunn, and many loving nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. Mary was predeceased by her loving parents, Peter and Louise (nee Hauke) Dunn. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Mary's memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Pl., Memphis, Tenn. 38105, StJude.org
