Services for Jerry Acker, 79, of Tyler will be held on Friday, January 11, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. in the Stewart Family Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mike Ford officiating. A private burial will follow at Bascom Cemetery in Tyler under the direction of Stewart Family Funeral Home. Mr. Acker passed away Wednesday, January 9, 2019 in Tyler. He was born March 9, 1939 in Bascom, Smith County to Clyde Presley Acker and Gertrude Harris Acker. Jerry was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Tyler. He attended Chapel Hill Schools. He was owner of Acker Antenna Service. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Gertrude Acker and his three brothers and five sisters. He is survived by his loving family including his wife of 59 years, Patricia Acker; son, Kelly Acker of Whitehouse; daughter, Jill Crist and husband Mike of Tyler; granddaughters, Kassidy Adams and husband John of Tyler, Kolby Acker and fiance Alex Badillo of Ft. Worth, Kellsy Acker of Tyler, Keely Acker of Tyler, Heather Shertzer and husband Nolan of Arp, and Hillary Crist of Tyler; as well as two great-grandchildren, Adyson Adams and Kaleb Clemmons. Visitation is scheduled for one hour prior to the service on Friday, January 11, 2019 at Stewart Family Funeral Home, 7525 Old Jacksonville Highway, in Tyler. The family would like to say a special thank you to all the staff at Briarcliff Nursing Home, Fresinius Dialysis Center, Nurses on 4 Ornelas Tower at Christus Trinity Mother Frances and Hospice of East Texas for their excellent care. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Hospice of East Texas Foundation, 4111 University Blvd., Tyler, TX 75701.
