James A. Miller Jr. BANGOR James A. Miller, Jr., 81, of Bangor, PA, passed away Thursday, Sept. 6, 2018, at Lehigh Valley Hospital- Pocono, East Stroudsburg, PA. James was born in Bangor on May 13, 1937, a son of the late Isabelle (Letson) Miller and James A. Miller, Sr. He was the husband of Joan L. (Riley) Miller. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary last December. James was a 1956 graduate of Bangor High School, where he was a member of the high school marching band. James was employed as a computer operations specialist at the former Bethlehem Steel Corp. in Bethlehem, PA, until retiring. After retiring, he drove a school bus and mini coach for Palmeri Transportation in Martins Creek, PA, for 21 years. He was a member of the former Bethlehem Steel Club, and various golf and bowling leagues in the Slate Belt area. James enjoyed going camping, driving with his grandsons 18 wheelers, and vacationing in Florida. He was a member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Bangor. In addition to his wife, Joan, James is survived by a daughter, Sherry Hock; a son, James D. Miller; four grandchildren; Douglas, Carissa, Shelby, and Paige, and one great-granddaughter, Maci. He was predeceased by a daughter, Stacey Miller. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 11, at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 2445 Lake Minsi Dr., Bangor, with Rev. Michael Scholtes officiating. Family and friends are invited to call Monday, Sept. 10, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the James J. Palmeri Funeral Home, 6602 Alpha Ave., Martins Creek, PA, and Tuesday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church. Burial will be held at Plainfield Cemetery, Plainfield Twp., PA. Arrangements have been entrusted to the James J, Palmeri Funeral Home, Martins Creek. Online condolences may be offered at palmerifuneralhome.com .
