In memory of
GENEVACHARLES SARRATT
Sarratt1923 - 2018 EDMOND A graveside blessing and remembrance will be held for Geneva and Charles Sarratt on September 9, 2018 at noon, Resthaven Gardens Cemetery, 500 SW 104th Street, Oklahoma City. Mrs. Sarratt was an entrepreneur and civic leader. She owned Burns Jewelry Store, and was known for her work in politics and extensive community efforts that included serving as President of Altrusa, A.I.M.E., Capitol Hill Business and Professional Women's Club, and the Jaycee Jaynes. She served with numerous Boards, including the American Red Cross, United Fund, Community Council, Variety Health Center, Edmond Arts Council, OK Capitol Dome, YWCA and Sunbeam Home and Family Services. She also held the distinction of being the first female appointed to the OK Judicial Appointments Commission. Charles Sarratt was recruited by Coach Jim Tatum to play football for the University of Oklahoma where he later served as Assistant Coach under Bud Wilkinson. Mr. Sarratt was a naturally gifted athlete who excelled in baseball, basketball, tennis and golf. He played pro football for the Detroit Lions. After leaving football, he returned to Oklahoma and established a home with Geneva (a marriage that lasted more than 70 years) and a successful career in oil and gas as President of Astro Well Drilling and Servicing. Mr. Sarratt also served on the Board of Regents for the University of Oklahoma. Both Geneva and Charlie were long-time supporters of the university and could be seen at just about every game for many, many years. They cherished their friends throughout the community. And they were dearly loved by the family they leave behind. In lieu of flowers, family members ask that you consider a donation to the Donna Nigh Foundation.
