Cordell H. Harrison
Mr. Cordell H. Harrison passed away Wednesday, August 29, 2018. He was born on April 19, 1940, in DeFuniak Springs, Florida to Henry Oscar Harrison and Minnie Laird Harrison. Mr. Harrison was a resident of Mary Esther, Florida. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Fort Walton Beach, Florida. He graduated from Walton High School and went on to attend Florida State University. He then acquired his bachelor's degree in music education, focusing on trumpet performance, from Howard College (Samford University). He later graduated from the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary with a master's degree in music. While there, he served as the minister of music at the First Baptist Church of Slidell, Louisiana. He later served as Minister of Music and Youth Director at Myrtle Grove Baptist Church in Pensacola, Florida and Cinco Baptist Church in Fort Walton Beach. Mr. Harrison then worked for E.R. Moore Company as Vice President of Sales. Mr. Harrison was preceded in death by his father and mother. Mr. Harrison is survived by his loving wife of 55 years Alma M. Harrison of Mary Esther, Florida; one son Robert Cordell Harrison of Smyrna, Georgia; one daughter Leslie Anne Tarabella and husband Robert of Fairhope, Alabama; two grandchildren Harrison Tarabella and Joseph Tarabella. A time of visitation will be held from 10:00~11:00 AM on Friday, September 7, 2018 at First Baptist Church of DeFuniak Springs, 216 Live Oak Avenue East, DeFuniak Springs, Florida 32435. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, September 7, 2018 at First Baptist Church of DeFuniak Springs, with Reverend Owen Bozeman and Reverend Tim Burnham officiating. Flowers are being accepted or donations may be made to the music ministry at First Baptist Church of DeFuniak Springs, 216 Live Oak Avenue East, DeFuniak Springs, Florida 32435, or the youth ministry at First Baptist Church, Fort Walton Beach, 21 First Street SE, Fort Walton Beach, 32548.
