In memory of
Kathleen Hummel
Kathleen Hummel passed away on Thursday, August 2, 2018. She was born January 3, 1926 in Providence, RI to the late Mary Annie Allsup and Charles Allsup. She grew up in Pawtucket, RI attending East Pawtucket High School. After high school she worked in the lace industry, anxiously waiting for the love of her life to return home safely from World War II. After their marriage in February of 1946, Kathy devoted her life to her husband and family. In addition to being a wonderful homemaker, Kathleen enjoyed sewing, bowling, reading, card games, and traveling until her physical ailments no longer allowed her that enjoyment. She continued to enjoy reading, word search games, and Turner classic movies to the end. For sixty-nine years she was a devoted spouse to the love of her life, Herbert Richard Hummel, who preceded her in death in August of 2015. Kathleen was also preceded in death by her daughter, Karen Mary Moore. Kathleen is survived by three children, Charles Richard Hummel (Jan) of Winston Salem, NC, Janice Lynn Fowler (Edward) of Wake Forest, NC, and Scott Herbert Hummel (Net) of Whitney, TX; her eight grandchildren, Kathleen Fowler, Andrew Hummel, Mark Hummel, Scott Fowler, Janssen Williams, Kristen Friend, Phillip Hummel, and Matthew Rossacci; and ten great-grandchildren. A private family graveside service will be held Wednesday, August 8 at Crown Memorial Park, Pineville, NC with Pastor Frank Venable of Christ the King Moravian Church, Durham, NC officiating. The family thanks those at Universal Health Care/North Raleigh who cared for her these past months. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
