Gilbert B. Benson, Jr, of Timonium, Maryland died on November 1, 2017 in Towson, Maryland. Born December 10, 1920, in Hampstead, Maryland, he was the son of the late Gilbert B. and Addie Bixler Benson. He was the husband of the late Jean Hedler Benson, whom he married in Grand Rapids, Michigan on June 21, 1948. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during WWII in the Pacific and retired a Lt. Colonel in the Marine Corps Reserve. He was a retired accountant and attorney having been a former managing partner for Wooden and Benson, CPA. He was a member of Baltimore Country Club. He was an avid golfer, cigar smoker, and world traveler. His dry sense of humor will be missed. He was preceded in death by his son Gilbert B. Benson, III. Surviving are sons and daughters-in-law, H. Bixler and Anita Benson of Fort Wayne, Indiana, and Robert H. Benson and Dr. Sherlene A. Dreyer of Houston, Texas; grandsons, Bixler C. Benson and wife Julie, and John A. Benson and wife Kelly; and great-grandchildren Graham and June. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Inurnment will be private.
