DAN TRANBERG
age 53, of North Royalton, Ohio, passed away May 29, 2017 after a long illness. Beloved son, brother, uncle, artist, teacher, writer and friend. Survived by his parents, William and Dolores (nee Iorio) Tranberg; brother Bill Tranberg, sisters Maria Rowlett (Richard) and Michelle Finkle (Tom); nieces Taylor, Emily, and Abby; nephews Max and Jack. Dan was born in Newark, New Jersey on March 5, 1964. He graduated from St. Viator High School in Arlington Heights, Illinois in 1982. He obtained his Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree from Northern Illinois University and his Master of Arts Degree in Studio Art from Purdue University. Dan published more than 750 articles on art and exhibited his paintings in more than 40 exhibitions, most recently Divergent Explorations at the Gallery W. He is currently represented by The Bonfoey Gallery. His writing appeared in national and international publications, including Art in America, NY Arts, artUS, BOMB, Glass Magazine, and Art on Paper. He was awarded an Ohio Excellence in Journalism award in 2004 and received Ohio Arts Council Individual Artist Fellowships in 2002 and 2007. His book, Acrylic Fusion, was published in 2012. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the Dan Tranberg Memorial Scholarship Fund at Cleveland Institute of Art, 11610 Euclid Avenue, Cleveland, Ohio 44106 or online at cia.edu . Funeral Mass at St. Albert the Great Catholic Church, 6667 Wallings Rd., North Royalton, Monday, June 5, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. (please meet at church).
