Robert F. Davis
DAVIS, Robert F. Robert (Bob) F. Davis was born April 23, 1927 near Stuart, Iowa and passed away February 14, 2017 in Allen Texas. He was the oldest of 4 children to Foster and Esther Davis. Bob was a graduate of Stuart High School. After 2 years in the army, Bob attended the University of Iowa and obtained his Bachelors Degree in Math and a Masters Degree in Actuarial Science. Bob was the youngest actuary to become a Fellow in the Society of Actuaries in 1959. While at the University of Iowa he met and married Phyllis Ann Peet of Martelle, Iowa in 1953. They were happily married over 63 years and have 2 children, daughter Deborah Davis Crawford (husband Mike) and son Steve Robert Davis (wife Debra). They have 4 grandsons, Sean and Christopher Davis and Thomas and Robert Crawford and 4 great grandchildren, Skyler, Piper, Griffin and Ryder Davis. He worked at Bankers Life Company in Des Moines, Iowa from 1954 to 1973. He subsequently went to work at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Iowa in 1973 and moved to Dallas to join Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas in 1977 until his retirement in 1997. Bob came out of retirement to work for his daughter as a bookkeeper from 1998 to 2011 at her Animal Hospital.Bob was a private pilot and loved to fly his family in their Cessna 172 on vacations and to visit family. He passed his love of flying onto his son and grandsons. Bob loved homemade ice cream for any occasion, always vanilla. There are many memories of squirt gun fights with his family and friends. He loved animals and had several dogs and cats. He couldn't walk by a dog without stopping to pet it. He and Phyllis enjoyed square dancing in Dallas for many years and were members of the Trail's End Promenaders Square Dance Club. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Bonnie Lull and brother Raymond Davis. He is survived by his wife, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, his brother Gerald Davis and many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Monday, February 20, 2017 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Restland Funeral Home. The service for Bob will be held at 12:30 PM, Tuesday, February 21, 2017 in The Wildwood Chapel at Restland Funeral Home in Dallas Texas.
