In memory of
Julian M. Pike
PIKE, Julian M., 86, son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, uncle, friend, teacher, researcher, writer, reader, gifted inventor as a Ph.D. physicist for the National Center for Atmospheric Research (Boulder), missionary (Kenya, Africa), volunteer fire lookout (Oregon's Mount Hood and Wallowa-Whitman national forests), and builder of kit computers for Wycliffe Bible Translators (North Carolina), was always a man of God no matter where he walked-and he was a lifetime walker. He passed peacefully in Louisville, Colorado on January 13th 2017, after a life of service and devotion to others, but especially to his beloved wife of more than 65 years, Lola Lavera Pike, who survives him. Born March 14, 1930 in Springfield, Oregon to C.J. Pike and Vivian Pike, Julian also leaves a brother, two sons, a daughter, four grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews: Brother Vic (Zola) Pike; sons Kenneth Pike and Keith (Maureen) Pike; and daughter Julie (Rodney) Powell; grandchildren Thomas, Kayla, and Alexis Powell, and Sophie Pike, daughter of Keith. Donations would be welcome to World Gospel Mission (donations@wgm.org). The world was a safer place and more peaceful place because of Julian, even at the end quick with a smile despite the ravages of time and Alzheimer's disease. An inspiration and blessing to all who knew him, he is and will be greatly missed.
