Amy Elizabeth Pizzi Fifth-grade teacher, devoted to her students, family, and friends Amy Elizabeth Pizzi, 37, of Basking Ridge, N.J., died on Sunday, Oct. 23, 2016. Amy's loving family was with her. Friends and family are invited to attend the visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 26, at the Paul Ippolito Berkeley Memorial, 646 Springfield Ave., Berkeley Heights, N.J. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Teresa of Avila Church, Morris Ave., Summit, N.J., on Thursday, Oct. 27, at 9:30 a.m. Interment will be private. Please visit www.ippolitofuneralhomes.com for additional information and to send condolences. Amy was born and raised in New Providence, N.J. She was the beloved daughter of Marguerite (Roche) and Dr. Peter Anthony Pizzi. Amy graduated from Oak Knoll School of the Holy Child, Summit, N.J., and Villanova University with a degree in communications. After graduation, Amy worked at King World Productions in Short Hills, N.J., and at the same time attended Caldwell College to attain her teaching certification. Amy also earned her master of arts degree in curriculum and instruction from Caldwell College. Amy was a fifth grade teacher at Hillside Intermediate School in Bridgewater, N.J. She loved her teacher coworkers and her students. Amy also cherished her relationships with each and every one of her friends and their families. In addition to her parents, Amy leaves behind her beloved sisters, Kristen (Patrick) Shallcross of Summit and Katie (Richard) Travia of Stamford , Conn. But most of all, Amy will be so missed by her nieces and nephews, Peyton, Carter, Kelsey and Holly Shallcross and Rosie and Daniel Travia. They were the light of her life. Her day was never complete without hearing about what they were doing through phone calls, text messages, Facetime and videos. Aunt Amy was their favorite and it was always fun to be doing things with her. In lieu of flowers, Amy's family requests that you make a donation in her name to the Lupus Research Alliance through her memorial page at www.inmemoryof-memorial.org .
