In memory of
ALISSA JO ELWAY
September 1980 - March 18, 2016 Alissa Jo Elway passed away suddenly on March 18, 2016 in Mount Vernon, WA. She was born to Lem and Peg Elway on September 29, 1980 in Aberdeen, WA. Over the years, she also lived in Hoquiam and Anacortes, WA; Jacksonville, FL; and Plano, TX. Alissa graduated from Anacortes High School in 1999; and earned an AA from South Puget Sound Community College in 2011, and BA in Psychology, Law and Justice from Central Washington University in 2013. She worked as a rehabilitation Counselor for the State of Washington, was a 911 operator for eight years, and worked at C.A.R.E. Alissa was a caring person. She always wanted to make sure you were okay. She had, to quote her cousin, a "wicked" sense of humor. You could always tell when she entered a room because the laughter would start. She had friends all over the world. Once you were her friend, you were her friend for life. She loved her family, especially her nieces and nephews. Alissa was an athlete and especially enjoyed fast pitch softball. She loved photography, writing (had been published), and travel (went on many cruises, traveled to all but five states, and visited England, Wales and Ireland with her mom in 2010). Alissa is survived by her parents; brother, Aaron (Laura) Elway, and their children, Tristan and Emersyn; and sisters, Angela (Dave) Garrity, and their children, Hannah and Jacob. She was predeceased by grandparents, Neil and Enid Osborn, Lem and Dorothy Elway, and George and Enid Keaton. Services will be held Saturday, June 11, 2016, 11:00 a.m. at Capital Christian Center, 4431 Martin Way, Olympia, WA 98516. Memorial donations may be made to PTSD Foundation of America, PO Box 690748, Houston, TX 77269, or the Wounded Warrior Project, 2200 Alaskan Way, Suite 130, Seattle, WA 98121.
