In memory of
Lynn J. Thornton
THORNTON, Lynn J. Died on May 2, 2006, following a boating accident on Clearlake. Born March 3, 1955, in Sacramento to Eugene and Phyllis Thomsen, both deceased. Lynn is survived by her son John D. Thornton; stepdaughters Stephanie Kiernan and Julie Chamberlain; brothers Roger (and Jude) Thomsen of Cameron Park, CA and Rick (and Michelle) Thomsen of Keller, Texas; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews, one niece and many friends. Dearly loved by Mark Webber. Lynn retired from the state only one month ago as a Supervising Investigator II, Chief of Enforcement Program, Department of Consumer Affairs, Dental Board of California, where she performed the job she loved as a respected medical and quality control investigator. Her first pension check was delivered on Monday, May 1. In life, Lynn gave so much of her talents, skills, love and time to others and she continued to give of herself in death. Lynn had requested that upon death her organs be donated so that others could live. What she did not know was that her own nephew, James Thomsen, 24, would be given her gift of life through a kidney transplant just as his own kidneys were failing. Four other life-saving organs were donated to others. Family and friends are invited to a viewing from 12-4 p.m. Sunday, May 7, followed by a rosary at 4 p.m. at Nicoletti, Culjis and Herberger Funeral Home, 5401 Folsom Blvd., Sacramento 95819. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, May 8, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 1333 58th St., Sacramento. Interment at St. Mary's Cemetery.

Your Sympathy Gift Includes:

  • A digital certificate, customized with your message, that can be printed for your records or given to the family.
  • An entry in your loved one’s guest book, noting your contribution.
  • A listing in a memorial tree registry, showing that trees were planted in honor of your loved one.

Why Plant Trees?

This memorial tree planting will assist in reforestation, improve forest health and area watersheds, and provide a critical habitat for threatened and endangered wildlife.

By planting memorial trees, you not only honor the life and legacy of your loved one — you also help to preserve our beautiful national forests for generations to come.
