Gerald "Bud" Smith
BURLINGTON - Gerald "Bud" Smith, 82, passed away peacefully in his sleep, Feb 17, 2015. He was born July 6, 1932, in Lowell, son of Hersey and Georgia (Ballard) Smith. Bud was educated in Lowell schools and graduated from Lee Academy in 1950. He worked various construction jobs most of his life. He was a Past Master of Horeb Lodge and a member for more than 50 years. Bud married Barbara Shorey, September 1, 1951. She predeceased him in 2009. They were married for almost 58 years. He is survived by his children, Deborah Houston and her husband, Tom, of Hyde Park, NY, Timothy and his wife, Mina, of Burlington, Michael and his wife Marilyn, of Lowell, Gerald and his fiancée, Dawn Marie, of East Millinocket, Brian and his wife, Tina, of Burlington and Tracey Twist, of Mattawamkeag; a daughter-in-law, Cheryl Smith, of Burlington; a brother, Floyd Smith, of St. Petersburg, Fla.; a sister, Coris Betters, of Olamon; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; many nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife and parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Connie Comstock. The family would like to thank the healthcare providers at Cummings Assisted Living in Howland for the care he was given there.
