Rita Lucille Donahue McRae
Rita Lucille Donahue McRae Rita Lucille Donahue McRae went to her heavenly home on Saturday, September 13, 2014. Rita was born on December 3, 1924 in Philadelphia, PA to William and Anna Donahue. Rita worked in retail, transportation and banking until she met Jim McRae, who would become her husband. Rita and Jim moved to California in 1954 and settled in Humboldt County to raise their family. Rita devoted her free time to service throughout her life including Campfire Girls, Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts, tutoring and numerous church activities. Rita's hobbies included reading, sewing, embroidery, baking and playing the piano. Rita loved her daily walks, greeting passersby along the way, especially the canines. Rita will be remembered for her generous spirit and her strong faith. Rita was preceded in death by her parents William and Anna, her brothers Bill, Joe and Gene and her devoted husband Jim. She is survived by her children: Loretta of Oakland, Kate (Glenn) McClure of San Anselmo, Jim (Donna) of Oakland and Patrick (Teddy) of Portland, OR; and sister Evelyn Andrade of Reno, NV. She was the loving grandmother of Sean and Elizabeth McClure and Michael and Molly McRae. A visitation is scheduled for Monday, September 29, 2014 from 4 pm to 8 pm at Sanders Funeral Home, 1835 E Street, Eureka. Funeral Services will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 2806 Dolbeer Street, Eureka, on Tuesday, September 30, 2014 at 10 am. In lieu of flowers, donations in Rita's honor may be made to the Alzheimer's Association. Arrangements under the direction of Sanders Funeral Home.
