Cal Christopher Ackerman, 55, of Springfield, N.J., passed away at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in Rahway, N.J., on April 2, 2013. Family, friends and acquaintances are invited to visit from 2 to 6 p.m. on Saturday, April 6, at Bradley Smith & Smith Funeral Home, 415 Morris Ave., Springfield, N.J., followed by a prayer service at 6 p.m. For further information, or to send the family a condolence, please visit www.bradleyfuneralhomes.com Cal was born in Orange, N.J., to Calvin and Mary (nee Gallitelli) Ackerman. He was a private in the Army, serving from 1974 to 1975. His sister, Susan Ackerman, and his father, Calvin, predeceased Cal. He is survived by his mother, Mary Ackerman of Sarasota, Fla.; sister, Mary Ward (William) of Springfield; brothers, Paul Ackerman of Springfield and Mark Ackerman and his niece, Ashley, of Tampa, Fla., and also survived by his longtime companion, Valerie Stone.
