FRANKEL KURT LANG FRANKEL, 33, of Atlanta, Georgia, died in Florida on Saturday, July 2. Kurt graduated from West Geauga High School in 1996, the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, with a B.S. in Geology in 2000, earned a Master's degree at Lehigh University in Pennsylvania in 2002, and a Doctorate from the University of Southern California in 2007. For the past four years, Kurt was an Assistant Professor in the School of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences at the Georgia Institute of Technology. He was an avid cyclist, devoted Carolina basketball fan, outdoor enthusiast, and favorite uncle of Max, Annie, Nolan and Riley Frankel. He is survived by his beloved wife, Stephanie M. Briggs and dogs Daisy and Bishop. Cherished son of Joanne (nee Lang) and Charles Frankel and son in law of Linda and Joseph "Gus" Briggs. Dear brother of Todd (Stacey), Reed (Courtney) and Barrett "Barre" Frankel. Devoted grandson of Jerome and the late Beatrice Frankel and the late Fritz and Martha Lang. Favorite brother in law of Joseph Briggs. Services will be held Friday, July 8 at 11 a.m. at The SUBURBAN TEMPLE-KOL AMI, 22401 Chagrin Blvd., Beachwood, OH 44122. Family will receive friends at Cleveland Marriott East, 26300 Harvard Rd., Warrensville Hts., FOLLOWING SERVICES UNTIL 8 P.M. In lieu of flowers, family requests donations in Kurt's name to The Department of Geological Sciences at UNC-Chapel Hill, c/o Arts and Sciences Foundation, CB No. 6115, Chapel Hill, NC 27599-6115.
