Marguerite Sparkes
SPARKES, Marguerite (Age 91) Marguerite Jessie McCauley was born to Jesse L. McCauley and Margaret M. McCauley on August 4, 1919 in Dayton, Washington. In 1941, she married John H. Sparkes. John and Marguerite moved to Spokane in 1946 and purchased Spokane Dental Laboratories which they owned and operated for 35 years. Marguerite was an active member of PTA for many years and was also a Campfire Girls leader. In 1954 she joined the Spokane Camera Club. She was a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church for over fifty years. Her hobbies included crafts, photography, gardening, and sewing. Marguerite was preceded in death by John, her husband of 55 years. For the last 12 years, Marguerite lived at Riverview Retirement Home. She was a long time member of the group that knits “Caps for Kids”. Survivors include daughter and son-in-law Camille and Tim Schmidt of Valleyford; grandsons Jeremy (Lynn) Schmidt of Rockford, and Jonathan Andrew (Michelle) Schmidt of Valleyford; and great grandson Jacob Alexander Schmidt. Our family would like to thank the staff at Riverview for the loving care given to Marguerite, particularly during the last two years of her life. A memorial service will be held Saturday, October 23, 2010, at 10:00 AM in the chapel at Riverview Terrace, 1801 E. Upriver Drive. Arrangements entrusted to HAZEN & JAEGER FUNERAL HOME, 1306 N.
