In memory of
Bruce Dale Tainio
TAINIO , Bruce Dale Bruce Dale Tainio, age 65, died at his home in Cheney, Washington on December 31st, 2009 after a fierce battle with cancer. Bruce was born May 16th, 1944 in Wallace Idaho to Henry (Hank) Tainio and Frances Ackerman Tainio, and was the younger of two boys. Growing up working in the strawberry fields on his family's farm in Otis Orchards, Bruce's love of nature and life began to bloom, building a springboard for his life's work as a scientist, working with nature for the betterment of the earth and its inhabitants. After graduating from East Valley High School in 1962, Bruce attended Eastern Washington State College (now Eastern Washington University), where he studied biology. During his last year of college he took a long sabbatical and traveled across Europe and parts of the Middle East, cataloguing and studying crop varieties and native plant species. Bitten by wanderlust and a passionate love for plants and science, he began a rewarding and successful career as a plant breeder, developing hundreds of new plant varieties. His career took him to many countries and remote corners of the world. In 1985, Bruce began his own seed company, Tainio Technology. Not content with standard growing practices, he soon developed a line of natural products based on enzymes and beneficial bacteria, to enhance the health of his crops. Bruce was well known for his unique farming philosophies, was a sought after lecturer and consultant in the agricultural world, and quoted in many books and publications. Today, farmers around the world use Tainio's products and sustainable agriculture methods. As a hobby, Bruce was an inventor and a student of energy and quantum physics, which lead him to invent several instruments, which minimize environmental stress from electromagnetic frequencies. These instruments are now being used in households, businesses, and on farms and factories around the world, and manufactured by Tainio Technology's sister company, Coherent Resources. Bruce is survived by his wife, Athena (Teena Kreymer ) Tainio, son Marc Tainio and daughter-in-law Amanda (Gibson) Tainio, two stepdaughters Jennifer (Clark) McLendon and Amy (Clark) Becker, and their husbands Patrick McLendon and Stephen Becker. Four grandchildren: Michael Trevino, Arianna Trevino, Marissa McLendon, and Samuel Becker. His mother Frances Tainio, and brother Gary Tainio and sister-in-law Sue (Swanson) Tainio. A memorial service and reception will be held Sunday, January 10th at 2:30 p.m. at Unity Church, 2900 South Bernard Street, Spokane, Washington. Please honor Bruce by making donations to either of the following charities, of which he and his wife have been supporters: Union Gospel Mission - 1224 East Trent Ave. Spokane, Washington, 99202 Hospice of Spokane - P.O. Box 2215 Spokane, Washington, 99210 Bruce was a loving husband, father and grandfather, and will be missed by his family, and many friends around the world. As an old friend recently said, "he cut a wide swath". Cheney Funeral Chapel, Cheney, WA
