In memory of
William N. "Bill" Howell
Bill was born and raised in El Paso, Texas by Robert Evan and Jacqueline Pineau Howell. He enrolled at Texas Western College (University of Texas at El Paso) in the College of Engineering where he began his lifelong love for the mining industry and all things related. He treasured his family and the hundreds of friends he met throughout his mining career. Special memories in his life include his summer in Kellogg, ID in 1966 and his time at the underground copper mine in San Manuel, AZ. Bill loved bird hunting, reloading, camping, reading, barbecuing, traveling on as many dirt roads as possible to his destinations, searching for and photographing headframes, old mines, claims. He lived a full and wonderful life and said he had done all the important things in life to him, with no regrets. Bill is survived by his wife Myrna A. Howell, mother Jacqueline Pineau Howell, sisters Mary Gwendolyn (Hugh) Hodgins, Jacqueline Lea (David) Try, Jennifer Lea (Richard) Miller, sons Robert Benjamin and Barrett Denison (Amber) Howell, stepchildren Richard Robert (Michelle) Harris, Jr., Staci Anne (Timothy) Bott, Randall Charles (Tamara) Harris, seven grandchildren, sisters-in-law Patricia A. Cook, Carol J. Pounds, Elaine A. (JJ) Hunter, brother-in-law Joseph A. (Sherrie) Parent, III, numerous nephews and nieces, and special high school and college friends David Tyson, Jack Light and Richard Morris. He was predeceased by his father Robert Evan Howell and his nephew Kyle Evan Try. Those he considered to be his treasured friends in the mining industry are too numerous to list. No services are planned. The family suggests, to those who would like to place a memorial in Bill's name, to do so to: San Xavier Student Mine, c/o MGE Dept., Mines 229, P. O. Box 210012, The University of Arizona, Tucson, AZ 85721-0012.

Your Sympathy Gift Includes:

  • A digital certificate, customized with your message, that can be printed for your records or given to the family.
  • An entry in your loved one’s guest book, noting your contribution.
  • A listing in a memorial tree registry, showing that trees were planted in honor of your loved one.

Why Plant Trees?

This memorial tree planting will assist in reforestation, improve forest health and area watersheds, and provide a critical habitat for threatened and endangered wildlife.

By planting memorial trees, you not only honor the life and legacy of your loved one — you also help to preserve our beautiful national forests for generations to come.
