Patricia Miller PHD, age 87, of Granby Ma, passed away peacefully on August 29, 2019 at Hospice of The Fisher Home in Amherst. She was born in Torrington Ct and had lived in Granby Ma for the last 50 years. She was a lifelong educator and taught at NYU and three years at the American School for Girls in Turkey. She retired a professor of English and department head at Western New England University in Springfield Ma. Patricia is survived by her brother Robin Hyde Miller and wife Louise of West Jordon UT, a niece Deborah McAleer, nephews Stuart and Edward McAleer, several great-nieces and great-nephews, and several close friends including Jeanette Paul and family and Debbie and Rick Bedore. She was predeceased by her parents Royal and Elizabeth Miller, her sister Sandra McAleer and a brother Jerome Miller. Thank you to all the staff at Hospice of Fisher Home for the outstanding care and overflowing compassion. Words cannot describe the incredible loving care and companionship provided to Pat in her final months, days and hours by Ashlee Viens and her mom, Brenda Smith. When Pat left the hospital and was asked where she would like to go, she said to be with Ashlee. Ashlee lovingly fulfilled Pat’s last wish and was by Pat’s side and cared for her throughout her final days at Fisher Home as she had done for many months prior. All services for Patricia were private. Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home of Holyoke handled arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Patricia to Hospice of The Fisher Home, 1165 North Pleasant Street, Amherst, MA 01002.
