Patricia Louise Benjamin Indio - Patricia Louise Benjamin died Tuesday, February 26, 2019 at John F. Kennedy Hospital in Indio, California. She leaves behind her husband of 65 years, Henry, their daughter, Janet Jennings, her granddaughter, Jennifer Ellis, her great granddaughter, Renee, and her great grandson, Jayden. Also left behind are her grandson, Steve Jennings, his two children, Jacob and Ashley, her granddaughter Angela Jennings, and her three children, Kailie, D.J. and Dane. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Susan Cusic, and son, Thomas Warner Benjamin. In her younger years, Patricia attended Pacific Beach Junior High School, La Jolla High School and the Mercy College of Nursing in San Diego. She worked at the Ross Loos Clinic, St. John's Hospital in Santa Monica, and the Daniel Freeman Hospital in Inglewood. After eight years of nursing, she retired to attend to her first two children, Janet and Susan, in Inglewood. After spending a year in Roswell, New Mexico, where daughter Janet was born, the Benjamins returned to California, living in Torrance, Hawthorne, La Palma and Inglewood. While living in Southern California, Susan and Janet graduated from Kennedy High School and Thomas graduated from Tracy High School in Cerritos. She and husband Henry enjoyed playing duplicate bridge. They also enjoyed traveling, taking 14 cruises. They especially enjoyed the golf, friendships and camaraderie of their 12 years at Desert Falls Country Club. While living in Indio, Patricia Louise Benjamin was a volunteer for 20 years at the John F. Kennedy Hospital, serving as a president in 2006, 2007 and 2008. She was named Volunteer of the Year in 2009. There will be a "Celebration of Life" at the John F. Kennedy Hospital on April 8 at 10:00 am. Her wishes to be buried at sea will be honored at Pt. Loma on May 3 at 11:00 am.
