Owen "Pops" Leslie Hampton, 80, of Sugartown, LA, passed from this life on July 22, 2018 in DeRidder, LA. Owen the son of Thelma Lucille MCCommon and Chester Earl Hampton was born on May 17, 1938 in England, Arkansas. Visitation will begin Tuesday, July 24, 2018, from 5 PM to 9 PM, in the Labby Memorial Funeral Home in DeRidder, Louisiana. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 25, 2018, at 11:00 AM, in the Labby Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Larry White officiating. Burial will follow in the Arkadelphia Cemetery in Pitkin, LA. "Pops" was a police officer for 7 plus years in Iowa, LA., then he was a long haul and local truck driver for about 20 years. He served in the United States Navy. "Pops" loved spending time with his family and loved ones. Left to cherish his memory are his son, Chuck Hampton, of Longville, LA.; daughters Trina Ipes and husband, Charles of Iowa, LA., Melinda Maricle and husband, Bobby, Lucinda O'Bannon and husband, Michael; sister, Corina Vincent and husband, Walter; brother, Leroy Hampton and wife, Brenda, Jerry Hampton; 17 grandchildren; and 23 great grandchildren. Preceded in death by his wife Lillie Grace Hampton; his parents Thelma Lucille Mahaffey and Chester Hampton; sisters, Marie LeJune, Ethel Hoover, and additional 5 sisters; brother, Andy Mahaffey, and an additional 5 brothers; and granddaughter, Charlie Ipes.
