The GI Bill afforded Ray the opportunity to graduate from the University of Maine (1948) and Stanford University, MBA, Phi Beta Kappa (1950). He retired with the rank of Captain in the US Army, Reserve, receiving the Combat Infantryman's Badge and the Bronze Star Medal. Raymond wished his inurnment to be a private gathering.
