Funeral services for L.W. "Son" Carter, Sr., 91, of Archibald, LA were held 2:00 PM, Saturday, April 11, 2015 at the Archibald Church of Christ, Archibald, LA with Bro. Travis Arrant and Bro. Stanley Fortenberry officiating. Interment followed in the Gwin Cemetery, Mangham, LA under the direction of Brown-Holley Funeral Home, Rayville. Mr. Son was born May 15, 1923 and passed away Thursday, April 9, 2015 in Rayville, LA. Mr. Son was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during WWII, occupied both Philippines and Japan. He was a member of the Archibald Church of Christ. Mr. Son is preceded in death by his wife, Bobbie Burgess Carter; parents, John and Ruby Carter; granddaughter, Tracey Hutson; and sister, Rosalie Matheny Clay. Survivors include his sons, Lawrence "Sonny" Carter and wife, Connie of Lake Tawakoni, TX and Randy Carter and wife, Faye of Baskin; step children, Noble Wayne Hutson and wife, Kaye of Mer Rouge, Donna Singley and husband, David of Archibald, and Ronnie Hutson of Start; 10-grandchildren and a host of great grandchildren; sister, Nellie Garvin of Bossier City. Pallbearers were his grandsons, Rusty Singley, John Carter, Joe Carter, Jerry Carter, Corey Carter, Dee Hutson, B.J. Hutson, and Michael Hutson. Honorary pallbearers were James Toney and Travis Stephenson.
