Preston T. "Bud" Goforth
Preston T. "Bud" Goforth, 83, of Pacolet Mills, SC, died Wednesday, September 3, 2014, at Spartanburg Medical Center. Born September 1, 1931, in Cherokee County, SC, he was the son of the late Clyde and Ruby Montgomery Goforth, and husband of the late DeAnne G. Goforth. A U. S. Army veteran of the Korean War, Mr. Goforth was a member of Pacolet Mills Baptist Church and was formerly employed with Hoechst Fibers. Among survivors are his son, Tony Goforth (Carol) of Inman, SC; grandsons, Nicholas Galizia (Liz) of N. Charleston, SC, and Jason Galizia (Edilia) of Spartanburg, SC; great-grandchildren, Soleil Grace Galizia and Jason Joseph "J.J." Galizia; sisters and brothers, Doris Garner of Isle of Palms, SC, Dell Byars (Claude) of Goucher, SC, Margie Stubbs (Bill) of Chesterfield, SC, Susan Jones (Ray) of Gaffney, SC, William Goforth (Willie Bell) of Gastonia, NC, Neal Goforth (Martha) of Gaffney, SC, Wayne Goforth (Tallulah) of Maysville, GA, Wilbur Goforth (Audrey) of Gaffney, SC, Wilford Goforth (Myra) of Rock Hill, SC, and Mike Goforth of Lawndale, NC. In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by a son, Terry Goforth; sister, Judy Hill; and brothers, Frank Goforth and John Goforth. Visitation will be 1:00-2:30 PM Saturday, September 6, 2014, at Floyd's Pacolet Chapel, 141 Memorial Dr., Pacolet, SC 29372. Funeral services will follow at 3:00 PM, at the Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Norman L. Band and the Rev. Mark Williams. Burial will be in Pacolet Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to Pacolet Mills Baptist Church Building Fund, PO Box 660, Pacolet Mills, SC 29373; or Mobile Meals Service, PO Box 461, Spartanburg, SC 29304.
