Roy Kenneth Flint
Roy was born on October 22, 1928 and passed away on Wednesday, February 17, 2016. Roy was a resident of Valle Crucis, North Carolina at the time of his passing. He Graduated from University of Michigan in 1950 General Flint received a master's degree in history from the University of Alabama and a doctorate in history from Duke University. He attended the Army command and General Staff College the British Staff College the Armed Forces Staff College and the Air War College. He enlisted in the Army when the Korean War. During his distinguished career he served as a company commander in the Korean War and a Battalion Commander in Viet Nam. He served in both the 25th Infantry Division and the 82nd Airborne Division. He was a proud infantryman and had the distinct honor of wearing both US and British paratrooper wings. For his service in combat he was awarded the Silver Star the Bronze Star. He was married to Joy. Memorial services for Brigadier General Roy Kenneth Flint will be conducted Sunday afternoon February 21 2016 at 3:00 o'clock at the Church of the Holy Cross in Valle Crucis. Officiating will be Father Allan McCaslin. Military graveside rites and burial provided by the United States Army will follow in St. John's Episcopal Church Cemetery.The family will receive friends following the graveside service at Church of the Holy Cross.
