John Joseph Norbut, age 96, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 18, 2020. Born June 21, 1923 in Cleveland, Ohio to Anna and Anton Norbut. Beloved brother of Ben, Helen (nee McAlonis), and Augustine. He served in the U.S. Navy as an Apprentice Seaman Second Class in 1943 during WWII. He received an honorable discharge on March 1, 1944. John will be greatly missed by his niece, Barbra Gajdos (McAlonis) and nephew, Thomas McAlonis. Loving Great Uncle of Michael Gajdos (Beth), Debbie Gajdos, Laura Gajdos, Michelle (Murphy), and Stephen Gajdos (Kristen), Nicole Sweiss (McAlonis), Renee McAlonis, and Monique Corridori (David) (McAlonis). Great, Great Uncle to Tyler Gajdos (Alicia), Ryan Gajdos, Brandi Caudill (Jared), Brittany Drabik (Kyle), Brianna Massengil, Dean Murphy Junior, Gabrielle Gajdos, Nickolas Gajdos, and Luci Gajdos. Codey Sweiss, Haley Sweiss, Joey Hahn, and Tony Hahn. Great, Great, Great Uncle to Kennedy Drabik, Kole Drabik, and Jaxson Caudill. John loved the City of Cleveland! He knew the City like the back of his hand! One of John's hobbies was reading the Daily Newspaper! He was up on all current events and saved many articles to share. He enjoyed Polka Band Music. He was a Cleveland fan and supported his home teams, the Cleveland Indians and the Cleveland Browns! John looked forward to our family gatherings for the Holidays! He always had a cup of coffee, with cream in hand and a great story to tell you! John was laid to rest at Calvary Cemetery on Miles Road, Cleveland on Tuesday, May 26, 2020.
