Peggy A. Wojtowicz
Peggy Ann Wojtowicz, 84, of Aurora, IL, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, May 2, 2020 at Amita Health Medical Center in Aurora, IL. Peggy was born on June 4, 1935 in Hopewell / Washington County – now known as Abingdon, VA the daughter of the late Howard and Leona (Scott) Clifton.
Peggy lived in Virginia, North Carolina and Florida prior to moving to Naperville, IL 52 years ago. Peggy worked as a nurse at Miami General Hospital while living in Florida. Once in Illinois, Peggy worked various jobs ranging from Fidlers in Naperville, making their famous burgers back in the day, to working as a CNA at Sandwich Nursing Home after they moved there in 1984. She then moved to Aurora, IL and worked and ultimately retired from Elmwood Nursing Home. Peggy enjoyed baking, gardening, crocheting, sewing and spending time with family and friends. And, for those that lived out of state - her grandchildren, brother, nieces and nephews, she enjoyed speaking with them on the phone regularly.
Peggy is survived by her brother, David (Pergie) Clifton of High Point, NC; sister-in-law, Gladys Clifton in Florida; children, Ron (Pam) Helton of Naperville, IL, Vicki (Don) Perrin of Aurora, IL, Richard (Debbie) Helton of Boulder Hill, IL, DeNee Karn-Miller of Aurora, IL and Keith Karn of Aurora, IL. She is also survived by grandchildren, Leslie (Josh) Bevers, Christopher Helton, Jonathan (Jennifer) Helton, Jodi (Anthony) Perrin-Mastro, Ronnie Helton (significant other Samantha Wilson), Robert Helton (fiancé Elissa Roldan), Siobhan Helton (significant other Rodney King) and Karen (Byron) Richards; 12 great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and numerous friends.
Peggy was preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Leona Clifton; husband, Kenneth Wojtowicz; grandchildren, Shawn Helton and Benjamin Helton; son-in-law, Harold 'Skip' Miller, brothers, Douglas Clifton and Donald Clifton and a sister-in-law, Ida Clifton as well as another sister in law and brother in law, Jay and June Pritchett.
Funeral services will be at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, IL on Tuesday May 12, 2020 – services will be private due to restrictions with the Corona Virus limiting only 10 people to be at the curb!
A celebration of life memorial is currently planned for Labor Day weekend. Details on that will be released as we get closer to that date.
