Kerstin E. Mackey
Kerstin Elisabeth Mackey (nee Danielson), age 80 of Bay Village and originally, Avesta, Sweden, passed away Wednesday, August 7, 2019. Beloved wife of nearly 57 years to Thomas Mackey; loving mother of Jim (Holly) and Lisa Mallory (Doug) of Atlanta, GA; devoted "Mormor" of Emily, Allison, and Sarah Mallory; dear sister of Stella Stenburg, Eva Shaefer, and Bjorn Danielson, all of Sweden. Preceded in death by her parents, Per Mats and Svea (nee Eriksson). Kerstin was born and raised in Avesta, Sweden. She came to America in 1957 to work as an au pair in Grosse Pointe, MI. After returning to Sweden for a year, she returned to America and met Tom Mackey in Ann Arbor, who was a student at the University of Michigan. Kerstin and Tom were married on February 2, 1963. Kirsten spent her life with Tom, traveling the world and visiting her granddaughters every month without fail. She enjoyed tennis, golf, sailing, and spending time at their home in the British Virgin Islands. Tom and Kerstin were members of Avon Oaks Country Club for nearly 50 years. Despite her on-and-off battle with cancer, Kerstin was able to celebrate her 80th birthday with family in Sweden. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Family will receive friends from 2-5 pm with a 4 pm service on Wednesday, August 14, 2019, at BUSCH FUNERAL HOME, 21369 Center Ridge Rd., Fairview Park, OH.
