William S Erickson
William S. Erickson passed away suddenly and unexpectedly at his home early Tuesday morning, November 6. He was born and raised in Elyria and would have been 82 on Veteran's Day.
William was a 1954 graduate of Elyria High School and later graduated from Bowling Green State University where he was a member of ROTC and the Alpha Tau Omega fraternity. He went on to serve in the Army Artillery as a Lieutenant. Later in life he retired from a successful sales career with Procter & Gamble.
Throughout his life he enjoyed talking with people and lending a hand if anybody needed help. He was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Elyria and served as an usher and trustee for several years. Model railroading was a life-long hobby and he always liked spending time with his grandchildren Ellie and Evan whenever he had the chance.
He was happily married to his wife of 57 years, Gloria (nee Hoffman), and had two sons, Eric and Corbie. He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Edith Erickson.
He spent his final days here caring for his wife who is living with Parkinson's Disease.
Friends may call Sunday, November 11 at the Busch Funeral home, 114 Second St., in Elyria from 2-4 and 6-8 pm, and also on Monday, November 12 in the Asbury Room at the First United Methodist Church, 312 Third St., in Elyria from 10-11 am. Funeral Service will begin immediately following the visitation at 11:00 am, Rev. W. Kent Joy officiating. Burial will follow the service at Ridge Hill Memorial Park in Amherst.
