In memory of
Fred W. Hinds
Fred W. Hinds, 89 of Batavia IL passed away peacefully Monday August 6th, 2018 at his home in the care and comfort of his loving family. He was born November 17th, 1928 in Geneva, IL the son of the late Earl and Florence (Evans) Hinds.
Fred was a life-long farmer in the area. Fred loved and cared for his family farm. It was his passion in life. He enjoyed caring for multiple gardens and watching the fruits of his labor through the year. Fred garden tractor pulled for many years with his son, he was one of the original founders of the NITPA (Northern Illinois Tractor Pullers Association).
He spent many hours and days helping friends build many pulling trucks and tractors over the years. After years of competition Fred hung up the helmet and put down the tools retiring from the sport he loved late in his 70's. If something had a motor in it Fred could make it run. Fred loved to fix things, sometimes we thought Fred broke things on purpose just so he could fix it.
One warm day Fred stumbled across the love of his life when Millie was 14 and Fred was 17 while she worked at a root beer stand in Aurora IL. Years later Fred convinced his new found love to start their journey of life together. Two years later….Fred 25 and Millie 22 decided to exchange vows to spend the rest of their life together. Five years went by when Fred and Millie introduced the world to their new son Gary. Fred and Millie continued to spend 61 years together.
Fred is survived by his wife of 61 years, Millie Hinds of Batavia, IL; His son Gary (Sherry) Hinds of Sandwich, IL; his grandson, Jonathan (Katie) Hinds; his great grandsons Colton Hinds and AJ Nagy, of Sandwich IL, and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Calvin "Jerry" (Darlene) Hinds and Leroy "Roy" (Virginia) Hinds. They were known as the "Hinds Brothers" back in the day when they worked side by side on many ventures together.
