John David Greer
Services for John David Greer, age 73, of Cathedral City, formerly of Anaheim are Monday, November 13th at 1:00 p.m. at Wiefels. Casey Jones will officiate as the minister for the services. Burial will be the following Monday, November 20th at 10:30 a.m. at Riverside National Cemetery where the Airforce Honor Guard will conduct military honors. The family will receive friends from 12-1 p.m. Monday, November 13th at Wiefels, 690 South Vella Road, Palm Springs, California.
Mr. Greer died Wednesday evening, November 8th, while surrounded by his girls and their families. John was born September 13, 1944 in Orange, California to Juanita N. and Johnnie A. Greer of Fitzhugh, Oklahoma. He attended high school in Orange, California and went to Fullerton Junior college where he studied to get a BA.
Mr. Greer joined the Airforce in 1961 where he was a firefighter and aircraft crash rescue. During the Vietnam War, he was stationed in Thailand. He did two tours and exited the service in 1968. For most of Mr. Greer's life, he worked as a salesman, specializing in construction tools and supplies.
Mr. Greer married his sweetheart, Phyllis Kathleen King, on May 20th, 1964. They were married for 50 years when Phyllis passed away on August 18th, 2014.
Survivors include his sister, Dorothy Gail Kelley, Normal, Oklahoma; his daughters Wendy L. Everhart, Sandpoint, Idaho; Cynthia D. Jarrett, Lake Forest, California and Nicole R. Kinkle, Cathedral City, California. Mr. Greer had five grandchildren, Shane A. Greer, Lake Forest, California; Drew A. Niceley, Simi Valley, California; Troy M. Niceley, Sandpoint, ID; Amber M. Kinkle, Cathedral City, California; and Sklyler D. Everhart, Sandpoint, Idaho. He also had four great grandchildren; Drake, McKenzee, Hunter and Greyson Greer.
Bearers will be his grandchildren.
