Robert A. Hoffman
Robert A. Hoffman, age 77 of McHenry passed away on April 5, 2021 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in Chicago on April 4, 1944, the son of Edward and Evelyn Hoffman. Robert married his beloved wife Barbara Kinateder on June 11, 1966 at St. Peter Catholic Church in Skokie, IL.
Robert was a teacher at Marian Central Catholic and Stevenson high schools. He was a past owner and pilot at Windy City Balloon Port in Fox River Grove. Robert enjoyed flying hot air balloons, working on cars, snowmobiling and boating.
At the age of 45, Robert suffered a stroke in his class at Stevenson High School but regained independence with the support of his caregiver and wife, Barbara. He later foundered the Stroke Support Group at Marianjoy Rehabilitation Hospital in Wheaton IL and was an active member of the Centegra Stroke Support Group in McHenry.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years: Barbara Hoffman; his two children: John (Anne) Hoffman and Debra S. Hoffman; his granddaughter: Aleah Ortmann; his sister-in-law Diane (Peter) Rice; brother-in-law Robert (Gail) Kinateder; his niece and nephew: Lori (Ben) Lamkin and Daniel (Delia) Rice as well as grandniece and grandnephew: Avery Lamkin and Carson Lamkin.
Visitation will take place on April 10, 2021 from 12pm to 1pm at Church of Holy Apostles, 5211 W. Bull Valley Road, McHenry IL, followed by Funeral Mass at 1pm. Interment will take place at Church of Holy Apostles Cemetery in McHenry, IL.
Per CDC Covid-19 recommendation everyone attending the visitation and mass will be required to wear a mask and follow safe social distancing protocol.
