Norman Short
Norman Burton Short, Sr., 71, of Georgetown, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, March 29, 2016. Mr. Short was born in Georgetown to the late Emory and Onolee (Donovan) Short on July 31, 1944. Norman had attended Cokesbury Church and was a member of the Black & Tan Coon Hunting Association and the Station 77 Volunteer Fire Co. in Georgetown. He enjoyed his work in construction, but he loved to hunt with his pack of dogs, as well as boating, fishing and raising horses for racing. He was also a fan of stock car racing and loved to watch his son, Norm Jr. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Emory Short, Jr.; and sister, Joyce Hayes. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Linda (Conaway) Short; son, Norm Short, Jr. and his wife Dawn; sister, Irene Dickerson; brothers, Ralph and Wayne Short; and a grandson, Storm Short. A funeral service was held at 2 pm on Sunday April 3, 2016 in the chapel of Short Funeral Services, 609 E. Market St., Georgetown, where friends called after noon. Burial was private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Georgetown Volunteer Fire Company, P.O. Box 77, Georgetown, DE 19947.
