In memory of
Yvonne MacDonald
Yvonne MacDonald Simpsonville Yvonne Lindberg MacDonald, lovingly known as Bonnie, went home to be with the Lord on October 14, 2016, surrounded by family at her bedside. She was 84. Beloved wife of George, she was born on July 28, 1932, in St. Paul, Minnesota. A graduate of the University of Minnesota and a retired high school English teacher, Bonnie was a homemaker for many years. She returned to the workforce as a Credit Counselor, then as a Caseworker for Child Protective Services, and retired after serving as a librarian at the Mauldin Library. She was a long time member of Holy Cross Episcopal Church, in Simpsonville, SC, serving on the Altar Guild, in the choir, on the Membership Committee, as a greeter, and a committed volunteer to the church's Pumpkin Patch to raise money for charities. She also served on the Vestry, first as a member and then later as Senior Warden. Her gift of hospitality was known by all, as she actively welcomed all people. Her love of books and reading were known to all, as was her dry wit and intelligent conversations. Her welcoming spirit and great love for all people will truly be missed. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, George Taft MacDonald; sisters Rita Lindberg and Darlene Mogren of St. Paul, MN, sister Delores Haley of Cumberland, WI; a son, Ian Robert MacDonald, of Lexington, SC; two daughters, Julie MacDonald Dangler (Dale) of Easley, SC, and Leslie MacDonald Donahue (John) of Simpsonville, SC; 7 grandchildren, Kinsey, Austin, and Caroline MacDonald of Lexington, SC, Audrey and Evelyn Dangler of Easley, SC, Lauren and Jamie Donahue of Simpsonville, and multiple beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. She was predeceased by her parents, Arnold E. Lindberg, and Marie R. Valois, sisters Gene Weber, Carol Darwin, and Lois and Claire Lindberg. A celebration of Bonnie's new life with Jesus will be held at Holy Cross Episcopal Church, in Simpsonville, SC, on October 22, 2016, at 11:00 AM, with interment of ashes at the Columbarium at Holy Cross following the service. The family will receive friends in the church fellowship hall immediately following the internment. The family will be at the home (4 Oak Knob Court, Simpsonville,29681). A special Thank You would like to be extended to Interim Hospice, especially Jenny and Cherale, and to caregivers Chantee, Amy and Yolanda, for their loving care. Memorials may be made to the Building Fund at Holy Cross Episcopal Church, 205 E. Church Street, Simpsonville, SC, 29681. (Online condolences may be expressed to the family at www.cremation-sc.com .
